Get Excited: Paula Radcliffe Will Deliver Closing Keynote at Engage London 2018
What do a professional runner and a recruitment professional have in common? More than you might think! Both work within high-pressure environments and must get the pace just right. Both are skilled in endurance and perseverance, commit themselves to training and strategy, and aren’t afraid to work hard to cross that finish line. Both also demonstrate the power of people, reminding us of what you can accomplish when you refuse to let obstacles get in your way.
That is why we are thrilled to announce sporting legend and marathon world record holder, Paula Radcliffe, will be joining us as the closing keynote speaker at Engage London 2018.
Coming a very long way from the 11-year-old that joined Bedford and County Athletics Club, Paula is widely regarded as the greatest female distance runner of all time. Achieving an astonishing time of 2 hrs 15 mins 25 secs in the 2003 London Marathon, she remains the fastest female runner in the world by over 2 mins, taking women’s long distance running to a whole new level.
Over the years Paula has been presented with a number of awards recognising her tremendous career. From BBC Sports Personality of the Year (2002), to IAAF International Athlete of the Year (2002), ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ at Women of the Year Awards (2002), Glamour Magazine Woman of the Year (2008), and even the Laureus World Comeback of the Year Award (2008). She is highly respected for her uncompromising fight against drugs in sport, and an ambassador for Cancer Research Race for Life.
After the birth of two children, injuries and setbacks, Paula ran her last London Marathon in 2015 and received the London Marathon Lifetime Achievement Award from Prince Harry. A fitting finale to an outstanding athletic career that saw three of the fastest marathon times in history belong to her.
