About Miller Brothers Staffing

Miller Brothers Staffing, was established in December 2010.  A family-owned business, Miller Brothers has grown to become a versatile recruitment agency, serving industries ranging from light industrial to technical executive roles.

With a passion for process improvement and a drive to stay ahead of the competition, Javar Manning, Director at Miller Brother Staffing, has been a key player in the company’s evolution. We had an opportunity to sit down with Manning to discuss how his team has leveraged technology to optimize their recruitment processes.

The challenge

As a staffing firm covering a broad spectrum of industries, Miller Brothers Staffing faced increasing pressure to manage time effectively while sourcing quality candidates. The need to process resumes quickly, create tailored candidate blurbs, and manage multiple client requests all at once became a bottleneck in their operations.

Manning, who manages a full desk including sales, recruiting, and technology implementation, realized that without adopting AI-driven tools, the company risked falling behind in the fast-paced recruiting industry.

“When I recognized the direction the recruiting industry was heading, I realized we needed to adapt to AI quickly due to the fast-paced nature of the market,” said Manning. “I told my team, ‘If we don’t embrace this change, Miller Brothers will be irrelevant in the next five years. That’s the impact AI is having on the industry.’

The solution: Bullhorn AI Assistant

Upon learning about Bullhorn AI Assistant (formerly known as Copilot), Manning was quick to join the early access program. Miller Brothers Staffing had already been using other AI recruitment tools, but the precision, speed, and integration offered by Bullhorn AI Assistant were unmatched.

“I immediately reached out to Bullhorn to be part of the AI Assistant test group.  The speed and accuracy of matching resumes to jobs is just faster, more detailed, and more accurate than other products,” says Manning.

The results

Bullhorn’s AI Assistant provides several key functionalities that are pivotal for Miller Brothers Staffing:

Increased efficiency: Bullhorn’s AI Assistant allowed the Miller Brother’s team to work more efficiently. The tool enables Miller Brothers to process and dissect resumes rapidly, allowing their recruiters to identify the right candidates without manually scanning each document. This significantly cut down time spent on sourcing and evaluating candidates.

“With AI, I don’t need to analyze a resume to identify specific words. I can get the details, quickly dissect the information, and decide if it’s a good resume or if I should go to the next resume,” said Manning. “So, it allows me to do other important tasks because of the time I’m cutting on the sourcing side.”

AI Assistant also helped by generating detailed candidate summaries, a task that previously took up to 20 minutes per resume.

“I just had an interview for a quality lead engineer. I got that information from our transcribing tool, incorporated it with the resume, and used AI Assistant to gather more information and write a killer blurb! So, I’m getting more candidates to the interviews, quicker,” explained Manning.

The ability to analyze resumes faster and produce candidate blurbs in record time freed recruiters up to focus on client relationships and business development.

Higher conversion rates: By using AI to generate personalized, high-quality messaging, Manning reported a noticeable increase in candidate engagement and interview conversion rates.

AI Assistant allows Manning to send targeted, multi-channel messages to candidates, reducing the effort needed to get candidates’ attention and improving response rates. Before AI, Miller Brothers’ recruiters manually generated messages to candidates, asking if they were interested in a certain position. They would have to go one by one to verify if the candidates were already in their systems. “Now, I can use messaging on Bullhorn’s AI Assistant and send that message straight to their email,” said Manning. “I have a pretty good conversion rate, getting people to the interviews.”

Adaptability for niche roles: AI Assistant’s ability to simplify complex technical resumes has also proved invaluable when sourcing for specialized positions, such as engineering and executive roles.

If a recruiter is not well-versed in a particular role or industry, they can use AI to create a better, more accurate job description. According to Manning, “a lot of recruiters don’t like to get into head hunting because they don’t know a lot about particular industries. This is actually teaching you a lot about the industry, giving you key words and summarizing the resume, and building the blurbs.”

Future plans

Looking ahead, Manning is excited about upcoming features in Bullhorn’s AI suite, including more automation and the potential integration of resume submission tools that will further streamline the candidate sourcing process. “I’m always looking for ways to make our job easier and quicker, and Bullhorn is keeping us ahead of the game,” he says.
